What is Adaptive Floor Hockey?
Want to learn the skills of floor hockey in an inclusive and adaptable environment? Join us in the winter to learn and play the fast and fun game of floor hockey! This program is designed for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities who are 12+. Participants in this program will work on developing gross motor and coordination through sport skills, drills, and games. Individuals will learn fundamental sport skills and teamwork skills while enhancing their balance, strength, endurance, locomotor, and coordination.
Who can participate in the Adaptive Floor Hockey program?
Individuals 12+ are able to participate in this program. Anyone who has a mobility or cognitive challenge that makes participation in traditional programming difficult. This program is co-ed.

- Balance challenges
- Motor programming challenges
- Down Syndrome
- Autism Spectrum
- Learning disabilities
- Cognitive impairments
- Low muscle tone
- Other congenital syndromes
Individuals with physical disabilities can also participate if desired. Individuals may ambulate independently, or use assistive devices, or wheelchairs.
Eligibility and Criteria:
- 12+, co-ed
- Designed for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
- Participants must be able to follow directions from the lead facilitator.
- If participants need assistance with following directions, a support staff must attend and assist the individual at the program. If you need assistance finding support, please contact STAR. We may have 1:1 mentors available.
- Participants will be held to the STAR Center Code of Conduct.
- Designed for all ages and abilities, co-ed
- Participants must be able to follow directions from the lead facilitator.
